NML U18 23.09.07 Dooradoyle
Garryowen 18 UL Bohemians 15

Our U18's will also be making the short trip to this venue on Sunday in upbeat mood after their thrilling NML over UL Bohemians in Dooradoyle last Sunday. UL Bohs started well and used their greater size in the forwards to telling effect. This together with some hard running in the backs saw them register the first two tries of the game. Garryowen's David Rowley and Barry Sheehan were beginning to make inroads around the fringes. A series of rucks set the backs up and the ball was moved quickly to winger Robin Healy who fairly scorched over in the corner.  Further pressure from the light blues brought a penalty to reduce the margin to two points. The second half saw Garryowen continue in the same vein and full back James McGarry split the posts with a penalty to take an 11-10 lead. Full credit to UL Bohs for the way they fought back. Clever kicking brought about a period of sustained pressure on the Garryowen defence and they were eventually rewarded with a fine try. The conversion was missed but they still lead by four points with the clock ticking away. Garryowen's never-say-die attitude shone through in those last few minutes. The legs may have been weary but Shaughs, Pat Kennedy, Carl Geoghegan and Brian Moran stuck to the task. Barry Sheehan elected to run a penalty from his own 22 and the pack provided quality ball for the ever vigilant Eoin Reidy. Breen McLoughlin, Lorcan Lynch and Jack Daly all handled before feeding Robin Healy on the 10m line. The flying winger again pinned his ears back and using raw speed broke a number of tackles before getting the touchdown. McGarry capped a fine performance with the conversion to leave the final score Garryowen 18 UL Bohemians 15. It was a cracker of game that thrilled the large attendance. Both sides conducted themselves in an exemplary manner throughout which made referee Noel Sexton's task so much easier.
