McInerney Cup 09th Feb 2009
Garryowen 20 St. Marys 3
Floodlights Dooradoyle

In a trice postponed McInerney Cup match Garryowen overcame a strong St Marys team to win by a flattering 20 points to 3. In an evenly contested first half we led by 3 points to nil courtesy of a Rob Sheahan penalty. Sheehan's second penalty extended our lead but the Saints replied with a similar effort. In the 60th minute Colin Varley broke away from the base of the scrum and ran 35 meters for a fine try that Sheehan converted. Five minutes later Brendan Walsh scored another fine try beating four Marys players after a fine three quarter move.
Sheehan again added the points. St Marys fought to the finish but we defended stoutly to keep our line intact.
